As you’re probably aware the lowfodmap diet is not the easiest to follow! When I first started I would be cooking the same ‘bland’ meals every day, feeling frustrated that I would be living like this forever! The foodie that I am, I found this very stressful and not to mention boring! After undertaking some research I found that there are quite a few alternative foods that can replace ‘high fodmaps’. I started incorporating these into my dishes, and now regularly cook different meals, and play around with the ingredients.
I have added a list below of some of the non-suitable high fodmap foods, and what I use as their replacement;
|Garlic||Garlic-infused olive oil|
|Milk||Lactose-free milk, almond milk|
|Wheat/rye based cereals||Gluten free cornflakes, nutribex, oats|
|Onions||Green part only of spring onions|
|Yogurt||Alpro plain (in moderation)|
Please let me know if you have any other alternatives, I would love to hear!
